Bete Abraham Hotel

Lalibela Ethiopia

The rock hewn churches of Lalibela are known as the Eighth Wonder of the World and they are nicknamed as "Africa's Petra".

St. Lalibela's ambition to create, the New Jerusalem here on the African soil so no African pilgrims making their pilgrimage to Jerusalem to pay homage to the holy land would die.

The link between here and the holy land had been cut off by the Crusade, which took place in the Middle East during the period of the Zagwe Dynasty and this led for the decision of the Zagwe Kings to concentrate on their internal policies by concentrating on the religious expansion and this led then for the dedication to create "New Jerusalem" here in the realm of their Empire.
